Coexistence of normal, super-, and hyper-deformation in nuclei: A study with angular momentum projection
نویسندگان
چکیده
Angular-momentum-projected energy surface calculations for A ≈ 110 nuclei indicate three distinct energy minima occurring at different angular-momenta. These correspond to normal, super-, and hyper-deformed shapes coexisting in one nucleus. Pd is studied in detail, with a quantitative prediction on superand hyperdeformed spectra by the Projected Shell Model calculation. It is suggested that several other neighboring nuclei in the A-110 mass region, with the neutron number around 64, also exhibit clear superand hyper-deformation minima.

The shape phase structure and its transition of the nucleus in the transitional region between the U(5) and SU(3) symmetries is restudied in the framework of coherent-state theory with angular momentum projection in IBM-1. The certain angular momentum (or rotation-driven ) effect on the nuclear shape is discussed. A coexistence of prolate and oblate shapes is found for the ground states of the ...

The shape phase structure and its transition of the nucleus in the transitional region between the U(5) and SU(3) symmetries is restudied within the framework of coherent-state theory with angular momentum projection in IBM-1. A phase diagram in terms of the deformation parameter and angular momentum is given. The certain angular momentum (or rotation-driven ) effect on the nuclear shape is dis...
متن کاملTransition along the Yrast Line of a nucleus
The energy surface of U(5)-symmetric nuclei is derived using the interacting boson model with the coherent state formalism and the technique of angular momentum projection. The energy surface is analyzed in terms of the angular momentum and the “deformation parameter”. The U(5)-symmetric Hamiltonian with suitably chosen parameters proves able to describe the vibrational to rotational shape-phas...
متن کاملTransition quadrupole moments in γ-soft nuclei and the triaxial projected shell model
Transition probabilities of the ground-state bands in γ-soft nuclei are studied for the first time using the triaxial projected shell model approach. It is observed that the angular-momentum dependence of the transition quadrupole moment Qt is related to the triaxial deformation of the nuclear mean-field potential. The introduction of the γ-degree of freedom in the shell model basis is shown to...
